Tween Night out at The Gagasphere was a ball for all!
On Saturday, March 16, over 50 kids came out for a night of “Tween Scene” fun under the disco lights at The Gagasphere, a Jewish-owned business in Waldwick, NJ.
Gaga is a sport with deep ties to Israel and is a popular game at summer camps. It is fast-paced, needs no athletic ability and the coaches at The Gagasphere played a variety of games to keep the kids moving and engaged.
As a JCC, it’s also important to us to have a “mitzvah moment” at our Tween Scene events. On Saturday, the kids made woven paper placemats that will be donated to Kosher Meals on Wheels, as a service of Jewish Children & Family Services of Northern NJ and played a spirited round of “Israel Sports” trivia.
This Tween Scene was extra exciting because, for the first time, we offered a “Tween Scene Jr” session for kids grades 3 and 4 and the response was fantastic. One Fair Lawn Mom said, “All the kids had an amazing time! I hope you do it again because they would love to go.” Marshall Maloney from Glen Rock agrees, “It was great. It was just really fun.”
Tween Scene has a long-standing tradition with the YJCC of Bergen County. It’s very exciting that, as a newly relaunched JCC of Northern NJ, one that is mobile and agile, we can keep the tradition alive and continue to give kids a way to come together as a community.
