Teens Bond with Therapeutic Animals and Each Other

The Open Hearts Open Homes teens of 2019 recently visited with the Therapeutic Animal Center in Sderot, Israel and also took the opportunity to start to get to know each other. Bonding with others who have experienced trauma is an important element to the OHOH program.

This is the 18th (Chai!) year of the Open Hearts Open Homes program through the JCC of Northern NJ. This special summer experience gives Israeli teens, who have suffered tragedy as a result of terrorism often from neighboring Gaza, a chance to have a relaxing and enjoyable summer in New Jersey. This program is made possible solely through the generous donors in our community as well as the host families who open their hearts and homes to these amazing children.
