In May, during the height of Guardian of the Walls, our northern NJ Jewish community gathered on Zoom to hear the eyewitness accounts of life in Israel. During this conflict, over 4,300 rockets were fired into Israel, causing terror and forcing children and families into shelters.
In this Zoom event, Elana Prezant, Supervisor of our JCCNNJ Open Hearts Open Hearts (OHOH) program is joined by Rob Laub, a long-time supporter and multiple past host, along with his family, of Israeli teens participating in our OHOH program. We also had a very special guest, Miri and her son Itay, who live in Southern Israel, where rockets and incendiary devices have, unfortunately, become a way of life. Living next to the border of Gaza, Miri and Itay gave our audience a personalized account of life in Israel.
These eyewitness accounts give us an unfiltered view into daily life in Israel – the trauma, the terror and the changes to daily life that were happening during these 12 days of conflict.
