In this hands-on cooking class, we will work in small groups around a cooking station to create latkes from recipes from around the world. From Indian-inspired latkes with sweet potatoes and curry to Syrian-style with tuna and parsley and flavors from Italy made with Arborio rice, raisins and pine nuts, our taste buds will feel like they’ve been on a fabulous vacation!

Following the cooking class, we’ll sit back, relax, eat up the food we made while hearing from the chef who created these recipes, chef and cookbook author Jennifer Abadi.

Chef Abadi specializes in preserving Sephardic and Judeo-Arabic recipes, food memories, and traditions.She teaches culinary techniques and has shared her recipes with the JCC Manhattan, the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) and the Natural Gourmet Institute. As seen on NBC, ABC and Fox 5 News, Chef Abadi has also been interviewed by such radio shows as “Awake, Alive, and Jewish,” “Radio Sefarad: The English Corner” (in Spain), and “Secret Cuisines & Sacred Rituals.”

After the class and food tasting, Chef Abadi will be available to sell and sign her book, Too Good to Passover for a special discount of $25 (normally $31; cash preferred).
