Sweet Treats: Desserts & Delicacies from the Garden State

This program explores a variety of “sweet” culinary traditions from the 18th and 19th centuries and considers how the treats we enjoy have changed. It looks at the ingredients and the process / tools of baking in the 19th century, and looks at a broad range of food items, then and now.

About The Museum of Early Trades and Crafts

Located in downtown Madison, NJ, METC explores American history with a focus on the life and stories of early New Jerseyans and craftspeople. Drawing on its rich collection, METC’s programs inspire learners of all ages to ask questions about the world around them and helps connect participants to people from the past.
