DESCRIPTION:In Collaboration with Temple Avodat Shalom \n\n\n\nThe Tashlich Service will begin at 9:15 am and Apples & Honey Picnic begins at 9:45 am.  \n\n\n\nLet’s join Rabbi Jim Stoloff and his Temple Avodat Shalom congregation in the park for a family-friendly (quick!) “tashlich” service. \n\n\n\nTashlich\, which literally translates to “casting off\,” is a ceremony when we symbolically cast off the sins of the previous year by tossing pebbles or bread crumbs into flowing water. During this ritual\, people think of things they’ve done wrong in the past year and then “throw them away\,” promising for improvement in the coming year. \n\n\n\nIncluding kids in a simple\, age-appropriate tashlich ceremony is a great way to build understanding about the ritual while building a fun family tradition.  \n\n\n\nAfter the ceremony\, congregants from the synagogue will go across the street to continue their service (all are welcome to join them) and our J on the Go families will stay in the park and have an apples & honey little picnic. \n\n\n\nThis program is offered complimentary\, courtesy of Temple Avodat Shalom but RSVP’s are appreciated. \n\n\n\nCost: Free but RSVP appreciated

DESCRIPTION:With Embroidery Babes\n\n\n\nSocialize\, sip and stitch on a piece of your own clothing! Learn basic hand embroidery skills & techniques at this moms’ night out. The workshop will be taught by Michelle Fleischer\, local small business owner of Embroidery Babes. \n\n\n\nThe workshop will focus on learning the back stitch and stitching X’s. Attendees will be able to draw a design such as a heart with their children’s initials\, a name in cursive\, etc. and stitch it directly on an item of clothing (bring your own). It’s a great opportunity to upcycle a piece of your or your kid’s clothing into something special and unique! The workshop includes an embroidery kit with all materials needed to practice your embroidery in class and at home.
